what does the lobster dream of? dreams of the lobster fiend? this is a large 5 foot japanese rinpa style painting from my ongoing series of coastal nature. traditionally scrolls were vehicles for displaying calligraphy and or paintings, capturing a feeling of nature or an idea, to be hung to set a mood, and changed often to match an occasion or season. my reinvention of japanese "kakejiku" are on synthetic fiber similar in appearance to rice paper, but stronger, waterproof and tear-resistant, and framed, ie, hung on black rods along the top and bottom edges. it arrives rolled in a box, ready to hang with one small nail (included).
