Mondrian’s Ideal

I have long admired the paintings of Mondrian for their stark but refreshing directness and bold colour. Once seen they linger in memory. Mondrian believed paintings should be flat and eschew the illusion of the third dimension. So he might be rather surprised to find his painting wrapped in a three dimensional package. This is part of my Discovery Series in which the package opens to reveal a favourite painting and also serves to frame the image. The edges of the painting are painted blue, and it would probably look best in a simple black frame.
