This image that I photographed in a garden in Naples, then painted in my studio, was done with my "faux fresco" technique. I prepare a special gesso as an underlayment, then paint the image. The gesso then allows me to crack the canvas and sand it lightly, giving the finished work the appearance of an ancient fresco on a Roman wall. The sister painting on this website, "Neapolitan Garden #9," is identical in size and in its color palette. And a slightly larger image of a bird in the Neapolitan garden setting is also on the site; it is 16" x 20" and is done in the same color palette, entitled "Garden Fruit." I am happy to offer a discount to collectors who wish to purchase a group of two or three of these lovely paintings.
