Russ Warren taught Drawing, Printmaking and Design at Davidson College in NC for 30 years and has practiced drawing for about 47 years continuously. His sketchbooks date back to 1969 and all of his major paintings have begun in countless drawings traced to these sketchbooks. He writes, "Drawing is the crux of everything. All serious artists must draw." This work is from a series of 100 pen and ink drawings Warren did in 2010 he called "100 Tunes of Humor, Death and Lies." His trademark themes and styles surface throughout these, from Picasso to animals and Texas imagery.
